Local Profile
The Southend YMCA Newlands site combines 30 self contained residential units with training and recreational space. This safe, supported environment has a broad vision and extended reach which is designed to optimise opportunities for residents as well as other young adults in the locality.
Facilities include: an IT suite; teaching kitchen; group work rooms; a multi media/music studio and social enterprise café.

Southend YMCA is a vibrant organisation, proactively engaged in helping vulnerable and hard to reach young people to build their future. Southend YMCA offers a multitude of vocational and recreational programmes which enable Young people to achieve nationally recognised qualifications and awards.
Entry to Employment and Foundation Learning (Pre-apprenticeship) Programmes
Switch Media - Offers multi- media activity - music making, music technology, film making and visual arts as a culturally relevant front door to learning.
Food 4 Thought – Offers practical food studies - how to cook on a budget and pursue a healthy lifestyle as the front door.
Volunteering
Southend YMCA is currently delivering one off, part and full volunteering opportunities for young people aged 16-25, through ‘V’ and the Princes Trust Team Programme.

Southend YMCA offers personalised support, tailor made to the needs of each young person – thereby enabling their transition to independence. Interventions are flexibly comprised from the following:- Help in setting up and maintaining tenancy
