Additional Opportunities Available at St Jude's

Northamptonshire YMCA has developed a suite of housing support services to meet the needs of anyone seeking our support.

  • First contact for the more vulnerable residents at St John’s Northampton and St Jude’s Kettering.
  • Accommodation with on-site training for those with lower support needs at Derngate House.
  • Trainer flats at Derngate House and St Jude’s for those ready to move on.
  • Shared houses for those able to look after themselves but still needing ongoing support.
  • Floating support for those who have their own accommodation but are in need of support.

Homelessness Services Available at St Jude's

Floating support is a transitions stage between the 24 hour care offered at accommodation centres and full independent living.

The aims of our floating support service are:

  • To promote quality of life, independence and inclusion
  • To reduce homelessness and the cost and trauma associated with accommodation breakdown
  • To support residents in moving on from all types of temporary accommodation
  • To provide flexible support that re-engages vulnerable young people who may not be in contact with other services
  • To engage with other agencies to ensure that the individual needs are fully met
For some, floating support will be the guiding hand as they take the first steps from an accommodation centre towards full independence. For others it may be temporary intervention to help sustain a tenancy.
