Local Profile

YMCA Central Herts provides short-term, single persons supported hostel accommodation for 82 people plus 34 spaces in “move-on” bed-sits with shared kitchens. The priority group for accommodation are young homeless people aged between 18 and 30 with a local connection who are referred by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, though YMCA Central Herts will occasionally house individuals outside these criteria. A wide cross section of people will be accommodated, including referrals from the Probation Service and Social Services, college students, local workers, people in crisis needing short term assistance, referrals from DIP (Drug Intervention Programme) and asylum seekers.
